India is a federal union of states comprising twenty-eight states and seven union territories. The seven Union Territories are: Andaman and Nicobar Islands; Chandigarh; Dadra and Nagar Haveli; Daman and Diu; Lakshadweep; National Capital Territory of Delhi; and Pondicherry.
