Local government includes Panchayati RaJ Institution and Urban Local Bodies in India. 73rd and 74th Constitutional amendment has accorded some functional matters to Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies respectively. These functional items include Fisheries, Public health, Cleanliness, Public utility services, Cultural activities, Minor forest produce etc. Law and order is a subject under state list which is being managed bY statE government and not by local government.
