Every year on June 23, we celebrate United Nations Public Service Day. This special day is all about appreciating the importance of public services and the people who work in them. Public services play a big role in making our communities better and helping them grow.
The United Nations also created an awards program called the UN Public Service Awards to recognize and reward the best and most innovative public service projects.
This program was updated in 2016 to match the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It’s a day that reminds us how valuable public services are and encourages young people to consider careers in this field.
